Mozilla yesterday announced the release of Firefox 71 update to all users. This new update comes with Picture-in-Picture video support on Windows. When you want to keep watching a video while browsing in different tabs, hover your mouse over the video to see a small blue “Picture in Picture” option, click it to pop open a floating window so you can keep watching while working in other tabs. Firefox will bring this new Picture-in-Picture feature to MacOS and Linux users in January 2020.
Other improvements in Firefox 71:
- Improvements to Lockwise, our integrated password manager:
- Firefox now recognizes subdomains and will autofill domain logins from Lockwise
- Integrated breach alerts from Firefox Monitor are now available to users with screen readers
- More information about Enhanced Tracking Protection in action:
- Notifications when Firefox blocks cryptominers
- A running tally of blocked trackers in the protection panel accessed by clicking the address bar shield
- Native MP3 decoding on Windows, Linux, and macOS
