One thing Windows Phone devices has a lot of (besides Reddit apps, YouTube apps and photo-editing apps), is third-party twitter apps. While the landscape of the twitter client ecosystem has changed over time since Windows Phone 8.1 launched, there are still apps which stand at the pinnacle of this ecosystem. Tweetium – a power-user’s dream, Aeries and now Fenice for Windows.

While the former two had updated themselves to become UWPs earlier, Fenice has now joined the ranks with an update to is Windows Phone app, bringing it into the Windows app ecosystem with support for continuum, interactive notifications and improved reliability and performance.  With all twitter clients getting more powerful, the mainstream twitter app is falling further and further behind in both UX and features. We can’t help but wonder if twitter will be able to match these apps whenever it chooses to update its own app.

Here’s the full changelog for the update:

  • Fast account switching
  • Buy once, get it everywhere
  • Continuum support (BETA)
  • New minimalistic icons
  • New messaging UI
  • Streaming!
  • Embedded quote tweets
  • Gifs
  • Switch themes automagically
  • Friend list always updated in background
  • Improved app reliability and performance.
