Facebook is still trying really hard to trick you into using Facebook Stories

No one not currently working for the Facebook Marketing department is using Facebook Stories, but the firm would like to change that by piggy backing onto a service that users do use–Instagram.

Facebook is now testing out a feature on Instagram that allows you to cross-post to Facebook from Instagram, so you can easily share your Instagram stories to your Facebook crowd.

It’s only being tested on some devices and for some users, and Facebook has confirmed that it is currently testing it.

The problem with this Facebook doesn’t seem to “get” that Stories don’t make sense for every app. Instagram has seen the most success with this, and WhatsApp¬†— while being confusing for western users–is actually quite popular with users from non-western countries and the middle east and Africa. Facebook for its own part, already has a feature which lets you post status updates. Users aren’t making use of it organically, which is why Facebook has to try and trick you into using it and blend it with an app that you actually do use.

Much like Skype, Facebook is trying force a format into an app which isn’t built for it. Unfortunately for both Microsoft and Facebook, users aren’t biting.
