Facebook replaces Bing as search provider

Facebook has replaced Microsoft’s Bing in favor of their own personalized search tool. As a company spokesperson confirms, Facebook will be using their own tool to let users quickly search through old posts, comments, and to find friends.

Since 2007, Microsoft and Facebook have partnered up following Microsoft’s $240 million dollar investment in Facebook for 1.6 stake in the company. Part of the deal brought Microsoft’s banner ads to the social network, which they ended in 2010 to bring their own ads online. Now it seems Facebook has taken another step to untie the knots in their deal with Microsoft by replacing Bing.

This certainly isn’t the best news, especially following the Ford and Microsoft news. Leave comments and questions below.
