WhatsApp can already do it, so can Instagram, and soon Facebook Messenger users will also be able to unsend messages.
The change was prompted by news that Mark Zuckerberg has been deleting messages he has sent already, removing them from the inboxes of his recipients.
We do not know how powerful the new Facebook Messenger system will be – with Zuckerberg’s messages presumably years old. On WhatsApp users are only able to delete messages sent within the last 8 hours, with a message saying the message has been deleted in its place. On Instagram messages are however deleted without any evidence they have ever been sent.
The feature is expected in the coming months, and until then Mark has promised not to delete any more messages himself.
