At F8 developer conference today, Facebook announced that they are working on a dating feature that can be used inside Facebook itself. Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that they have developed this feature by keeping privacy in mind and they are focused on helping people in developing meaningful relationships, not hookups like Tinder. You will be able to build an online profile for others to look at and yes, your friends can’t look at it. This feature will be an opt-in.
- People will be able to create a dating profile that is separate from their Facebook profile — and potential matches will be recommended based on dating preferences, things in common, and mutual friends.
- They’ll have the option to discover others with similar interests through their Groups or Events. However, what people do within the dating feature will not be shown to their friends.
This feature will be coming later this year.
