Facebook delays its Smart-Speaker in the wake of ongoing Data crisis

Some time back we reported that Facebook is working on launching its own Smart Speaker to take on Google Home and Amazon Alexa. While this meant Facebook would be tapping into the hardware market, the company was determined to reveal the smart speakers during a conference in May.

However, it seems that the smart-speakers won’t be launching in May after all. This comes after Facebook’s recent data crisis which made people uncomfortable with having a Facebook device in their rooms. The company did some focus group testing which didn’t go well for them.

However, Facebook is expected to launch the smart-speakers sometime late this year. The company will be hosting  the developer conference on May 1 and might explain the steps they are taking to secure the customer data.
