Facebook redesigned its Messenger app for users on iOS and Android last year to incorporate a cleaner, bolder and more modern design language. Today the firm has begun rolling it out to users on desktop devices, and users of the Facebook Messenger web-app will find that their experience now more closely resembles the mobile interface (except for the dark theme which did not make the leap.)

Messenger isn’t where the firm plans to stop this redesign, Facebook will be bringing this update to its main desktop site later this year along with new features aimed at focusing on what users use Facebook for the most like groups and events. Again, these updates have already hit some mobile devices (mainly iOS), but will also be making the leap to the desktop when Facebook begins its rollout.

The redesign is expected to hit Facebook’s desktop site in the coming months.
