At its annual developer conference yesterday, Facebook announced that it is expanding the availability of the Portal and Portal+ to Europe this fall. Facebook also announced that it will soon support WhatsApp on portal, allowing you to call any of your friends who use WhatsApp.
Apart from the above key announcements, Facebook also announced the following new features for Portal:
- You’ll be able to say, “Hey Portal, Good Morning” to get updates on birthdays, events and more.
- You’ll also have the ability to send private video messages from Portal to your loved ones.
- Through the collaboration with Amazon, Facebook is adding more visual features and Alexa skills to Portal, including Flash Briefings, smart home control and the Amazon Prime Video app later this year.
- You’ll also be able to use Facebook Live on Portal, so you can share special moments, with your closest friends, in real time.
- Portal’s SuperFrame lets you display your favorite photos when you’re not on a call. You can already add photos to SuperFrame from your Facebook feed, and starting today, you’ll be able to add your favorites from Instagram as well. And our new mobile app will let you add photos to Portal’s Superframe directly from your camera roll.
These new features will be available this Summer.
