Reels for Instagram lets you create short videos and features a large number of editing tools such as video speed tools, count down timers, and more. It’s essentially Facebook’s attempt to challenge TikTok’s monopoly in short video sharing space. Facebook is working hard to make the Reels feature better or at least match TikTok by adding new features at a rapid pace.

Yesterday, the Facebook-owned company announced three new features that it added to Reels: the ability to save audio so that you can use it to create whenever you want, an audio browser that gives personalized recommendations and songs that are trending, and the ability to share audio pages in DMs.

All these audio features are already available in TikTok, so while these new features won’t make Instagram stand out from the rest, it’ll now be a lot easier for creators in India to adopt Instagram Reels. As you may recall, the Indian Government recently banned TikTok along with other 58 Chinese apps citing security issues.

Instagram recently made it possible for users to create short videos up to 30 seconds, to extend the timer to 10 seconds while they’re recording, and to trim and delete any clip. These features are also quite useful and make it easier for users to switch from TikTok to Instagram.

If you’re an Instagram Reels user., do the newly added audio features make any difference? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
