One of the new APIs introduced with Windows Phone 8 is to allow apps using the location API to run in the background, offering 100% real multi-tasking.
Apps like Nokia Maps and other GPS navigation apps already use the feature, but Endomondo is one of the first to offer an app that uses the API for something different.
Endomondo Sports Tracker uses the API to accurately track your location around a course, be it when running, cycling, walking and any other distance based sport. You also get audio feedback on your performance during your workout and your friends can follow you live and send you peptalks in real-time.
All data is sent automatically to your personal training diary at www.endomondo.com where users can analyse their training, compete against friends, follow others live and communicate with active people throughout the world.
Given that Microsoft has given developers the ability to properly multi-task, are our readers surprised there are not more GPS enabled IRC and SSH clients? Let us know below.
