A short teaser for Star Wars: Battlefront II leaked online a few days ago and revealed a spectacular title. Today, during the Star Wars Celebration event, EA unveiled the full reveal trailer with additional footage. The game tells the story of a special forces soldier who appears to be loyal to the Galactic Empire. Characters like Yoda and Darth Maul also make an appearance. While most of this content is expected to be a part of multiplayer, the single-player story may surprise us all.
According to a report from ICXM, DICE and Lucasfilm have created a new canon storyline centered around an Imperial pilot in an elite task force known as the Inferno Squad. Bridging the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, players will get an Imperial perspective in the aftermath of the second Death Star’s destruction. The story ties into a new novel coming during the summer which focuses on the main character’s life and experiences. It also explores her loyalty to the Galactic Empire.
Players won’t be locked to playing as one character though. During the Star Wars Celebration panel, the developers confirmed that you’ll be able to play as Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker during the single-player campaign. There are many other surprises in store for fans too. Lastly, DICE revealed that the game would launch on November 17 while stating that digital preorders were open on Xbox One. It looks like it’s another year where Call of Duty and a DICE shooter will go head to head. The holiday season will be an interesting time indeed!
