The next mobile game from Nintendo, Dr. Mario World, is launching on Android and iOS devices on July 10th.
Dr. Mario World is a mobile spin-off of the Dr. Mario series. It’s a puzzle game where you use special pills and colour-matching skills to eliminate viruses and question how Mario found time to study for his medical degree between all the plumbing/racing/partying/saving the world and or/galaxy/Super Smash Bros brawling he does.
However, it’s not just Mario who has a sketchy medical background in this one – there’s also Dr. Toad, Dr. Luigi, Dr. Peach, Dr. Yoshi, and Dr. Bowser. It’s like the Mushroom Kingdom is just giving medical certifications away to anyone who wants one!
You can watch a trailer for Dr. Mario World below. The trailer insists that all these doctors are ‘real’, but I have my doubts about that.
While the game is free-to-play, it also comes with your usual bunch of mobile microtransactions. You’ll also need a constant internet connection to play.
The game appears to have a model similar to most mobile games, such as Candy Crush, where your progress is hindered by your heart meter and how many power-ups you have. Looks like the Mushroom Kingdom doesn’t believe in a national health system.
