The Division goes free to play this weekend on Xbox One alongside major update 1.8

Xbox Live Gold members have the opportunity to play The Division for free this weekend and experience all of the new content added in its next major update tomorrow (via Xbox Wire).

Starting Wednesday, December 6 through Sunday, December 10, The Division and all three expansions will be free to play. If you happen to already own the base game, you can jump into the three expansions for free from December 5-10. In addition, The Division and its expansions will be discounted for 70% off on the Microsoft Store.

Players will also get to experience its long-awaited update 1.8. This update opens up a whole new area of the city for exploration and comes with two new game modes: Resistance and Skirmish. In Resistance, Division agents will face an unprecedented alliance of enemy factions as they fight off waves of these opponents. In Skirmish, two teams of four will fight to defeat one another in a trio of new arenas. Resistance is PvE while Skirmish is PvP.

This update will be free for all players. Rainbow Six Siege already saw a resurgence of players after its launch with continual updates and new content, so maybe The Division still has some life left in it. Be sure to give it a shot if you’re an Xbox Live Gold member and see how it is for yourself.
