Less than 2 months Microsoft announced 5 thousand lay-offs, but it seems in their case it was simply a matter of re-allocating priorities, as Microsoft has not stopped advertising for new developers.
A search by the Industry Standard of Microsoft’s career database turns up 466 open jobs in Redmond. Most are software developer roles, but there are also open spots for product managers, program managers, marketing managers, and user experience designers.
Windows Mobile seem to dominate the list, along with gaming and Live services and non-product specific jobs.
We have seen a series of announcements today suggesting the Microsoft is doing one of their famous about turns and will be taking the Mobile market very seriously indeed.
Some companies should be concerned about being Netscaped I am sure.
