Design SVP Marko Ahtisaari promoted to Nokia Leadership Team

Marko Ahtisaari, who was Nokia’s Senior VP of Design, has been promoted to Excecutive Vice President of Design, and thus joins the Nokia Leadership Team. In this position, he will report directly to Nokia’s CEO, Stephen Elop.

Ahtisaari has previously been “responsible for the industrial design and user experience design of all Nokia products”, including the universally praised polycarbonate unibody design first introduced with the N9. He will continue to lead the design team, so here’s hoping that the great industrial design of the Lumia 800 and 900 will be re-used for future Windows Phones, similar to what Apple did with the iPhone 4/4S – why change something when you have nothing to improve?
