Home brew: Dell Venue Pro Native Com Breakthrough

One of the things I have always said about other devices (namely HTC or Samsung) is that those devices have all of the fun. Why do I say that? Because communities like xda-developers cater to those specific devices first in terms of development and modification of system OSes. For Dell Venue Pro owner, like myself, we have been left in the dark as developmental strides have been made on different platforms. We see other devices introduce full theme customization, registry tweaks and a panoply of other things. Where’s the dell love? Well, we Dell Venue Pro owners may be getting some of that finally!

Notebookgrail has tirelessly tried to open native com access for the Dell Venue Pro to no avail. That is, until now. He has created a compass program using Dell Venue Pro’s native dll. While it’s only a compass, some may think of the development as nothing, this is huge news. It has been relatively difficult to use dell com dll for anything almost leaving users with no options. Now programmers can access some lower level commands through dell com dll just like htc devices.

So what’s next for notebookgrail? Do you have to ask? If so, hit up the link below to find out and test the compass for the dell venue pro!

Special thanks to notebookgrail for allowing me to write about his development.
