Dell refreshes Latitude 5000 Series with Intel SkyLake and 17-hour battery life

Dell recently announced its refreshed Latitude 5000 notebooks. The company’s refreshed 5000 series pack improved battery and Intel Skylake processors. The company is offerings its new Latitude 5000 series notebooks in two sizes: a 14-inch one (E5470) and a 15-inch one (E5570). Dell is offering a HD display for both of the variants – however, you can also get a FHD display with touch on both of the devices. And if you are planning to get the 14-inch variant, you can also get the HD+ display, which is a pretty nice option.

The refreshed Latitude 5000 series also sport a carbon fiber polycarbonate shell. The new material apaprently allows the new 5000 series devices to be up to 27% thinner, and 18% lighter than their previous generations.

Dell states the new Latitude 5000 devices offer up to 17 hours of abttery life. Additionally, the company is offering a USB Type-C connector for teh 15-inch variant. For those wondering, the Latitude 5000 series comes with TPM support, Smart Card reader, NFC Smart Card reader, as well as an optional fingerprint reader. The new devices are already available in North America, and the price starts at $999.
