2015 was a great year for Microsoft’s Xbox One. Sure, it didn’t sell as much as Sony’s PlayStation 4 – but the competition between the PlayStation and Xbox was pretty tight last year. According to NPD, PS4 was the top-selling console in the United Stated for December 2015. The report also states that the PlayStation 4 was the top-selling console in 2015. On the other hand, the Xbox One performed pretty well, too — December 2015 was the best month ever for the console’s sales, according to NPD.
In a statement to the folks at GameSpot, Microsoft’s Mike Nichols revealed that December 2015 was the best month for the Xbox One “in terms of system sales” in the United States. In addition to this, December 2015 was also the best month for Xbox Live’s global engagement. Here’s his full statement:
“The total number of hours spent gaming on Xbox One worldwide nearly doubled compared to December 2014 and Xbox One exclusive game sales in the U.S. between July and December 2015 were up 61 percent compared to the same period in 2014. With an incredible catalog of first-party and third-party games on Xbox One and available through Xbox One Backward Compatibility, 2015 was a tremendous year for gamers, and we’re looking forward to making 2016 an even better one.”
As Nichols stated, Xbox One exclusive game sales were up in 2015 compared to 2014. The company has a bunch of exclusive games planned for 2016, and it’ll be interesting to see if Microsoft finally manages to beat Sony this year. What do you think? Discuss in the comment section below.
