Curious location of items on the WP7 dialer tab

phone dialer

I have spent the past few days like many of you, watching demos of the WP7 developer devices and wishing that I had one to play with. One of the interesting quirks, or shall design elements that I’ve noticed, is that the “end call”  and other common buttons on the dial screen are located above the keypad, instead of below it, like commonly found in other OSes and even the current WinMo 6x phones.

The design decision raises a few usability, and or comfort questions, because it forces your thumb to move to  near top of the screen screen, instead of “normally” at the bottom. Since I have not had a chance to try  out a real device, can anyone with a device let us (me) know if it is a problem at all, or is it better the new way?
