Just two weeks after its release, Studio MDHR announced that Cuphead had crossed one million sales. Now the company is celebrating another milestone as Cuphead has gone double platinum, selling over two million copies since its launch on September 29.
In a post on the studio’s blog, Game Director Chad Moldenhauer said that the team never expected Cuphead to be so popular and to be embraced by so many fans.
“Hello friends! Much to our shock and amazement, we can announce that Cuphead has now sold over 2 million copies across all platforms. Even in our wildest dreams, we never thought our crazy little characters would be embraced by this many fans from around the world and we are continuously humbled by your support.”
He goes on to thank everyone who has created artwork, memes, songs, challenge runs, and anyone who has just played the game. Studio MDHR is appreciative of the support.
Cuphead is an Xbox Play Anywhere title and can be purchased from the Microsoft Store for $19.99. A fake listing for the game somehow made its way onto the iOS App Store a couple days ago, but Studio MDHR was quick to point out that it was a scam and it was subsequently removed from the store by Apple.
