Cumulative Update causing Blue Screen for Surface Book 2 owners

Bad news for Surface Book 2 owners as ZDNet reports that a recent Microsoft Cumulative Update has resulted in Blue Screen crashes for Surface Book 2 owners.

Users report that this week’s Cumulative Update, KB4467682, is causing Surface Book 2 PCs to crash with error ‘SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED’.

Uninstalling KB4467682 helped some users, but left their Windows Hello camera non-functional, resulting in the need for a full install, while others find the crashes continue.

The issue is affecting PCs on the April 2018 update (1803) and disappointed users complain that they expected Microsoft to have thoroughly tested the updates on their own hardware, with one saying:

“I was getting BSOD on my SB2 and narrowed it down to KB4467682. You would think it would be one of the first platforms they test the updates on because of the reputational risk of bricking their flagship hardware with their flagship software. Very disappointing.”
