I have seen many Canadian readers complain about Cortana coming to UK before Canada, despite its close proximity to USA.
Now Canadian site MobileSyrup reports that according to Microsoft Canada’s President, Janet Kennedy, Microsoft is looking to have Cortana’s Canadian localization ready for launch this summer, in time for the Windows Phone 8.1 roll-out in August.
Kennedy demoed the Digital Assistant on stage at the Canadian Telecom Summit, asking Cortana for directions to the venue, as well as the current population of Canada.
According to Marcus Ash, Program Manager for Cortana, more than 50% of Cortana users are overseas, and the international uptake of the software has surprised Microsoft, and caused them to re-evaluate their international roll-out plans, meaning hopefully it will reach more markets faster over the next 6 months.
