Cortana for Android’s newest update prepares for smart thermostat launch

Microsoft today rolled out an update to the Cortana app for Android via the Google Play Store.

Here’s the changelog:

  • Support for Johnson Controls GLAS smart thermostat.

Now, the GLAS smart thermostat was a device announced this year at CES, with preorders opening in March. Cortana Device set up had been updated to support it in April, and now it seems that this is the second device which supports the smart thermostat.

As a device, GLAS is primarily operated by a touchscreen interface which lets users control the temperature and intelligently regulate internal temperature in response to outside pressures and/or the schedules of residents.

The GLAS device remains unavailable at this point, and is expected to officially retail later this year.

You can download Cortana for Android here, and check out the Johnson Controls GLAS smart thermostat here where  pre-orders are expected to open up in September.
