The state of a viable tablet from Microsoft is still up in the air with Joe Belfiore not making the situation any clearer during his interview at the D: Dive into Mobile Conference. Most of us Windows fans still hope that Microsoft will come to their senses and utilize the WP7/Metro UI design principles running on an ARM platform instead of a fully fledged Windows 7 with Intel chips slate. The above concept is by a an enthusiast with the twitter handle @hamiltonguy, depicting what he hopes to see in the next WMC interface. It seems to combine elements of the Zune client, Windows Media Center and Windows Phone 7. I really like it a lot especially what he has done with the TV hub. Add some panorama background picture in the hubs and a games section and I’m sold.
I have a weird suspicion (or is it hope?) that Microsoft is holding their cards close and letting their competitors tout their offerings before they come out with their own solution. Just like they did with Windows Phone 7, nobody had an idea about the Metro UI interface until they revealed it at Mobile World Congress. I hope they will do the same with a Windows tablet earlier next year at CES or MWC. There are two more pictures after the break.
