In the Cicero School District, more than 50 percent of the students speak Spanish as their first language, and they’re learning English as a second language in school. BrainPOP ESL is a comprehensive English language-learning program that uses animated movies to model conversational English, writes Jacqueline Russell on the Surface Blog. The Translator App by Microsoft helps students quickly translate what they are looking at on the screen. They can use the Surface’s camera, say a phrase or just type the text they want to translate.
