Based on Chromium commits, XDA-Developers have managed to reverse engineer and enable a great new feature Google is working on for the Chrome browser for Android.
The feature will make it much easier to switch tabs when using the mobile browser by adding a row of site icons (called TabStrip) to the bottom of the browser.
By tapping on the caret users are also able to open up an overlay with a grid of mini-previews of web pages while the older full-screen preview remains available.
There is no guarantee the feature will come to mainstream browser eventually, but with screens only getting bigger (and taller) and with phones sometimes turning into tablets (like the Galaxy Fold and Mate X) a more capable browser will never go amiss.
