Earlier this week, we reported that Bandai Namco and Arc System Works accidentally leaked some information about its new 3 on 3 anime fighter (then believed to be titled Dragonball Fighters). Since then, the game has been confirmed at this years E3 conference, with a title of Dragon Ball Fighter Z, and a new trailer showing off some of the insane gameplay.
The game, which will utilize Unreal Engine 4, will be a 3 vs. 3 fighter, much like the Marvel vs. Capcom series, and will take a turn from 3D graphics for 2.5D, which will have three dimensional characters in a 2 dimensional environment, and this seems to be a welcome change for the Anime fighting series.
The trailers show us matchups like SSJ Goku and Frieza, teen Gohan vs. Perfect Cell, and Vegeta vs. Majin Buu. We get to see the fast, explosive combat the we’re familiar with from the Tenkaichi series, in addition to players being tagged in and double teaming their opponents. The fighting looks awesome, with vibrant colors, massive attacks, and camera angles that really draw you into the game play.
In addition to the announcement trailer above, below you can check out “Demo Gameplay Sessions”, which shows off all of the aforementioned characters, as well as their transformations. The game also shows off Golden Frieza from the new Dragonball Super, so hopefully can look forward to some more characters from the new series, such as Hit and Zamasu. The game will see a release in early 2018 for Xbox One, PC, and PS4, with a closed Beta launching later this Summer.
