There is likely to be much rejoicing the clean streets of Canada today, as the local GSM monopolist is finally extending its special iPhone 3G data plan to all 3G phones, such as the HTC Tytn and the Samsung Jack. The data plan, which is $30 per month for 6GB is actually quite reasonable (except for the 3 year lock-in of course, but thats Canadians for you ;))
In one fell swoop Canada has gone from one of the most hostile places for mobile data to one of the friendliest. Of course the fly in the ointment remains that this is just limited time offer, set to expire August 31, but after such a historical concession its difficult to see Rogers going back to its 50c per megabyte again.
