Windows Phone users on Brazilian carrier Claro have for about a week been unable to purchase apps and media from the Windows Store using carrier billing, after Microsoft’s deal with the carrier expired.

The good news today is that the service has now once again become available though with some small changes.

Now the carrier billing will only work if handsets are set to the Brazilian region, and payment can only be completed via a cellular connection to Claro’s network, and will not work if only a WIFI connection is available.

The news suggests that Claro has not signed up to Microsoft’s ambition to use carrier billing for any purchase from the Windows Store, including on tablets and desktops, but at least now Windows Phone owners without credit cards will still be able to purchase from the store.
