Canadian developer Beamdog and Skybound Games will be partnering to bring some classic PC RPGs to consoles this year.
Beamdog has already proven to be a competent force when it comes to remastering these old PC games. With Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate II, Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonsphere, Icewind Dale, Planetscape: Torment and Neverwinter Nights already under their belt on PC, these new console ports should be in good hands.
While there is no timeframe on when each game should be available on consoles, Beamdog will be working on bringing them to Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch over the course of the year.
CRPGs have been rather popular on consoles this generation. With Divinity: Original Sin and its sequel both selling well (along with being pretty bloody great) there’s a proven audience for this type of game.
Beamdog is thrilled to announce our partnership with @Skybound that will bring beloved #DnD RPGs Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, and Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Editions & Siege of Dragonspear to console in 2019!https://t.co/ygSoZ4z1Qh pic.twitter.com/dzeKf6jOVp

With BioWare’s Anthem coming out very soon, we may not be getting a classic RPG from the developer anytime soon.
