If you ever wanted to use your Windows 10 PC using a virtual reality headset like the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive, you will be glad to know that there’s a new company which is working on offering just that. BigScreen is developing a software that takes your entire Windows desktop and puts it in a virtual reality environment which you can interact with while wearing your VR headset. Of course, why would you even want to use your PC with a VR headset when you can just use your keyboard and mouse?
Well, BigScreen apparently allows your friends to share their screen inside the VR environment. Theoretically, this will allow users to view their Windows desktop at one of the parts of the VR environment and watch a movie on the other part (shared by their friends), which is really handy. However, screen sharing on BigScreen will be a lot more useful when it comes to playing online games.
BigScreen will be available for the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive in April 2016, and the company is planning to release Samsung Gear VR support later this year. Of course, you will still need a PC with some beefy specs, which could be a bit of problem for some people who are interested in checking out virtual reality. And if you are a Mac user, you will need to wait until Apple makes a “good” computer.
BigScreen certainly has potential and it will be interesting to see if the solution actually works seamlessly. If you are interested in VR, what do you think of BigScreen? Discuss in the comment section below.
