Bethesda officially announces Rage 2

Update: id Software is indeed working on the sequel with Mad Max developer Avalanche Studios aiding in development as well.

Original: To no one’s surprise given Bethesda’s teasers after Walmart leaked it, Rage 2 has officially been announced.

The video released is a short trailer filled with characters seen in the images Bethesda has released on Twitter over the last few days, with neon colors seen throughout. It appears this will have a slightly different tone than the first Rage if the colors are anything to go by. Maybe Mad Max meets Borderlands?

Though id Software developed the first Rage in 2011, it is unclear if the studio will be developing its sequel. It would make sense for id to focus on DOOM considering the reboot’s success, but Bethesda has made it known in the past that they don’t let IP go to waste. Thus: Rage 2.

A gameplay trailer is set to release tomorrow on May 15. That is, if it doesn’t leak early.

It’s nice to see Bethesda have a sense of humor about the whole situation.
