Sea of Thieves may have captivated many Xbox fans, but some people were still confused as to what the point of it was. Just what are you going to be doing on your adventure. What are your goals. Rare has now detailed the game’s progression system that will set players on their journey and keep them coming back for more.
Players will explore a vast open world full of secrets and locations to discover on their way to becoming a pirate legend. To do this, you will go through your own journey and build a reputation, aided by unique trading companies and a customization system which features a ton of options for different hair styles, clothing, and equipment.
A big feature of the game are three trading companies helmed by NCPs. The Gold Hoarders, Merchant Alliance, and Order of Souls all offer different challenges and represent a variety of play styles to gamers. You can get promoted within the ranks of any of these to unlock items and titles specific to that merchant. By purchasing and completing activities offered by each company, including quests called voyages, you will earn reputation.
Voyages are physical objects that other players can see and take part in. As you progress, the voyages will become more rewarding with harder challenges and richer mechanics. Players can bring all of their voyages to the table and the crew can vote on which one they would like to take on. You will never face any overpowered enemies so no encounters will be off limits. Players will not need to wait or catch up to others in order to participate in a mission.
Sea of Thieves released on March 20, 2018 for Xbox One and Windows 10. You can pre-order it from the Microsoft Store.
