BBC iPlayer will soon be unusable for owners of the Xbox 360.

For those who still use the streaming service on the last-generation console,  BBC will be withdrawing support for the application on March 27th, 2019. Those who attempt to use the application are now greeted with a message telling them of the app’s impending doom.

BBC iPlayer was a huge moment for Xbox 360 owners when it launched in March 2012. While PlayStation 3 owners already had access to the application, it was not allowed on Xbox 360 due to Microsoft locking apps behind an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Due to the publically funded nature of the BBC, it requires the service to be available free of additional charge. On March 12th, 2012, this was finally the case on Xbox 360.

This is not the first case of support being taken away from last-gen systems recently. Just last month, Mojang stopped supporting Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and more.
