Baby Monitor App updated – just right for the holiday season!

After more than 8 weeks of development, I am proud to present a major update for “Baby´s RemoteEar” – the baby monitor app for your Windows Phone.

What´s new?

Maybe you forgot to turn of the baby unit. If the parent unit does not play recorded audio for a pre-defined time and amount, the baby unit shuts down automatically by pushing an alert to the parent unit.

A great improvement to keep your life private!

Remember: The app already requires only minimal permissions and has no interest in contacts, photos or audio files. There is no need to enter login data for cloud services, mailboxes or social networks. I do not even know the device ID, a name or the location.

If you are on vacation, it might be useful to see how many MB are transferred by the baby unit. If you do not have a flat rate for data transfer or no corresponding quota, you can check the data traffic to consider the possible costs.

There are many improvements on error handling. If an error occurs, the parent unit receives a push notification with a detailed error message. For me, as a developer, it is quite hard to fix errors or unwanted behavior on anonymous mobile devices. There are so many reasons, why an app crashes. Maybe it is the OS version, other apps running in background, memory issues or limitations, set by the OS. To ensure the quality of my app, major error events are logged anonymously to enable further investigation.
