Much faster than we expect, and in a way that will certainly undermine Verizon’s exclusive, AT&T officially announced that they will be offering the Windows Phone version of the HTC One.

In a press release they note:

DALLAS, August 20, 2014 – AT&T1 confirmed it will add the new HTC One® (M8) for Windows® to its leading portfolio of Windows Phone 8.1 devices. Further details on pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.

The HTC One (M8) for Windows will offer AT&T customers a sleek new design not yet seen in the Windows Phone ecosystem. AT&T currently offers the largest and most up-to-date selection of Windows Phone 8.1 devices connected to the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network.2

They have also opened up a page where users can sign up to express their interest.

While AT&T was not able to discuss timing, HTC has told The Next Web that the device will reach other carriers before the end of the year.  Hopefully the existence of a GSM version will also mean an international version is not far behind.
