Are loose cases causing Nokia Lumia 620’s to turn off by themselves?

In our forums a reader has been complaining that his Nokia Lumia 620 has been turning off spontaneously when in his pocket.
After a bit of detective work, he noticed the problem only started a few days after a new shell was put on, and that the problem can be replicated by pulling the case away from the phone, presumably triggering a hidden switch which turns the phone off when the case is removed.
He had the problem with 3 different shells, suggesting this may be a problem affecting other owners also.
