Don’t call it a fire sale: Apple’s HopePod speaker discounted $50

Apple today surprised everyone by reducing the official price of its HomePod smart speaker to $299. Reducing $50 from its original price is not a big deal, but it is important to note that Apple rarely reduces the price of its products within first year of the launch. Despite this new price, we think Google and Amazon will continue to dominate the smart speaker market.

HomePod is a smart wireless speaker that offers great audio quality for its size. HomePod comes with an Apple-designed woofer for deep, clean bass, a custom array of seven beamforming tweeters that provide high frequency acoustics with directional control and powerful technologies built right in. The voice control is supported by an array of six microphones, so everyone in the family can interact with it from across the room, even while loud music is playing. And with AirPlay 2, you can stream music and other audio content from any AirPlay-supported apps.

HomePod is now available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Mexico, China, Hong Kong and Spain.
