FPGA console developers Analogue has announced a gorgeous take on Nintendo’s Game Boy with the Analogue Pocket.

Announced through website Wallpaper, the upcoming portable will be able to play all Game Boy titles throughout every Game Boy generation. That’s right: Game Boy, Game Boy Colour and Game Boy Advanced titles will all be playable!

As a dedicated portable system, the hardware engineers at Analogue are going all out on making the device appear and feel premium.

The Analogue Pocket will feature a 1440p screen, stereo speakers, a USB-C rechargeable battery and remappable buttons. To be able to play games from the GBA, the system has two handy shoulder buttons right behind the cartridge slot.

While Analogue’s system is a loving image of what a modern Gameboy would be, the developer is also bringing support for other handheld systems. Through the use of additional cartridge adapters, the portable console will also add support for Sega Game Gear, SNK Neo Geo Pocket Colour and Atari Lynx. Yes, please!

Analogue’s work on bringing other retro consoles back in the modern age has been a commendable experience. Unlike other companies, Analogue’s work oozes quality and this new Gameboy homage appears to be going in the right direction.
