An Interview with WP7 Developer-Pelnor Software

1)Have you developed Apps for any other platforms before? If Yes What are they?

Yes, a custom Windows Mobile application for a local utility companies.  Sadly nothing the general public could get their hands on.

2)Why did you choose WP7 as a platform of your choice?

It seemed like a terrific new opportunity.  Microsoft’s older mobile OS was trailing the pack and WP7 seems like it’s got a chance to be a real market leader.

3)Which one do you think as the single most feature you liked in WP7?

Hands down Silverlight.  Powerful applications can be created quickly and it’s only getting better

4)Are you satisfied with WP7 Platform development tools?.

For the most part yes.  I jumped and got the dev kit as soon as it was available.  The only problems were weathering the breaking changes in the platform between Alpha and Beta.

5)What are the Apps you are developing now in WP7?

Pelnor currently has 2 apps nearing completion:  Photo Caption which allows users the ability to create text captions, speech bubbles, and motivational posters with their images.  There is also Easy Image Collector lets users search for images on their phone using an interface that is native to the device.

6)In what way Microsoft can improve their WP7 or What does WP7 lacks from?

There are currently a few things that developers who are not Microsoft partners to not have access to.  Having live content on the launch tiles for example.  It would be nice to see these opened up for the community as a whole.  I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before it will be.

7)Future Plans of you?

Just getting warmed up.  There are 8- 10 other applications Pelnor Software is looking to build.  Drawing programs, photo manipulators, and maybe even a game or two.

Apart from these questions, any other things you want to share with the community?

It’s a very exciting time for mobile developers.  It will be great when the marketplace opens up and developers will be able to see some return on their invested time and efforts.

Thanks Joe Koontz for your sharing.Expecting much more cool Apps from Pelnor in WP7 Marketplace.
