An Interview with WP7 Developer David Catuhe

1)Have you developed Apps for any other platforms before? If Yes What are they?

Nova is a 3D engine developed (entirely with C# and DirectX) on Windows (both client from Win95 to Windows7 and all browsers: opera/ie/chrome/firefox). You can find a demo version on

2)Why did you choose WP7 as a platform of your choice?

Windows Phone 7 is a powerful platform with an incredible cool SDK : XNA. As our main application (Nova) is developed using DirectX, it is very easy for us to port it to Windows Phone 7.  Windows Phone 7 has also a very powerful CPU and GPU so we can do some really fun effects such as shadows or transparency

3)Which one do you think as the single most feature you liked in WP7?

4)Are you satisfied with WP7 Platform development tools?

I have worked on a lot a device from Nokia to iPhone and sincerely the WP7 is far easy to use! The true power of the WP7 is its development tools

5)What are the Apps you are developing now in WP7?

We are working on Nova4Phone, on a game and on Windows Live Messenger client for Microsoft

6)In what way Microsoft can improve their WP7 or What does WP7 lacks from?

For the moment XNA on WP7 do not allow access to custom shaders. We are really looking for it to do cool effects.  Cameras are not really usable too (because we cannot get a live stream for it)

7)Future Plans of you?

We want to add shaders, particles and postprocess. We also want to add accelerometer and GPS integration
