AMD partners with Qualcomm to bring LTE to high-end Windows laptops

Microsoft and its partners today announced Always Connected PCs at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Tech Summit. The new Snapdragon-based Windows PCs may offer great battery life and LTE connectivity, but they are not powerful enough to replace laptops for many consumers. AMD today announced that it is partnering with Qualcomm to include its flagship modems in AMD-based high-end Windows laptops to offer LTE connectivity.

To make it easy for OEMs to build high-end PCs with LTE connectivity, AMD and Qualcomm have created a reference platform based on Ryzen and Snapdragon x16 modem. With this news, we can expect high-end laptops with LTE connectivity in the coming months.
