Amazon introduce new Echo Dot with improved looks, sound

At Amazon’s Echo event the company introduced a new Echo Dot speaker.

The cheapest and most popular of its digital assistants, the new speaker is fabric-covered, much like the Google Home Mini, and features improved sound courtesy of an enlarged 1.6″ (vs 1.1″) driver which delivers more powerful sound with lower distortion and enhanced bass reproduction. It now features a 4 mic rather than 7 mic array.

Users are still able to connect the Echo Dot to a bigger speaker via line-out or Bluetooth, but due to improvements, the speaker may not need any such support at all.

The Amazon Echo Dot (third generation) will launch on October 11th and costs $49.99 Pre-order it at Amazon here.
