Nokia is doing more than most OEMs with the NFC in their phones, but Nokia-touch.fr have posted this video showing much more is possible using programmable NFC tags.

The tags used in the demo is from RapidNFC.com, where a starter pack can be purchased for around £12 for 18. Software used in the demo include NFC Interactor, NFC Launchit and NFC Publisher.

In the demo NFC is used to launch apps, dial numbers, program GPS destinations and even to turn a normal cradle into an NFC-enabled cradle.

I think the only element that would make NFC even more useful would have been the ability to make certain tags trusted, such that they would not need confirmation before activating. Hopefully this is something Microsoft can add in the future.
