500px, one of the best photography community website today announced that the company will be abandoning their Windows Phone and Windows 8 app. Earlier today, the company sent emails to its users, titled as “Reevaluating our 500px Apps” which revealed that the company is abandoning its Windows apps:

“As the 500px community grows, we’re faced with the ongoing challenge of reevaluating our product lineup. This ensures our team can focus on the products that will enable and reward visual creativity for the most people at the highest standards of quality.”

“With that in mind, I’m writing to share that our Windows Phone, Windows 8 and Google Chrome OS applications will be discontinued at the end of April. Members using these devices are encouraged to use our website at 500px.com.”

As the email states, the Windows Phone and Windows 8 app will be discontinued at the end of April. However, the Windows 8 app has already been removed from the store – but the Windows Phone app is still downloadable.

This is indeed another bad news for the Windows app stores, but, there are some good 3rd party apps which you could use as an alternative.
