35% of IT professionals planning to develop on Windows Phone 7

In further evidence that Windows Phone 7 is establishing itself as the 3rd ecosystem, a recent IBM survey of around 4000 IT professionals in their DeveloperWorks program were planning to develop or deploy applications for Windows Phone 7, significantly more than Blackberry (25%) and not to far of the iPhone (49%).

The survey, which was performed in July 2011, agrees with a more recent IDC survey, which found 38% of developers were strongly interested in creating apps for Windows Phone 7.

While Windows Phone 7 has not as yet attracted tens of millions of users, the OS has certainly managed to attract the attention and confidence of developers, and we suspect the users will not be too long coming either.
