It seems at the very least many thousands of developers are curious about Windows Phone 7. Brandon Watson reports that over 200,000 copies of the Windows Phone 7 development environment has been downloaded, and even if 100,000 of those are just Windows phone fans wanting to take a look, that still leaves more than a few thousand actually interesting in the workings of the OS.
To place this in perspective, IOS also had about 200,000 developers who registered to have access to their SDK in April 2008, when the phone finally added applications, suggesting Windows phone 7 is off to a good start.
With the development tools and OS now near final, baring some bug-fixes, and Microsoft working very hard to get developers on board, it seems we can look forward to a bumper crop of applications out of the gate and available when actual devices appear around October/November this year.
