Comscore has posted their latest US market share numbers.

They show for the 3 months ending August 2014 3.5% of the US smartphone-owning population owned windows phones, or around 6 million people.

This is up from 3.4% 3 months ago, for the 3 months ending May 2014.

The number is slightly down from last month’s numbers (3.6%), but there is a lot of variability in the numbers, with the iPhone numbers down 0.4% from last month for example.

It remains to be seen how Windows Phone will hold up under the onslaught of the new iPhone, but there is also a number of new cheap Windows Phones hitting the US which will hopefully counter the effect.
