Microsoft has been slowly laying the ground work for being able to send and receive text messages from your Windows phone using your PC, with Cortana already able to send text messages in a somewhat awkward way.

Now Microsoft has confirmed that the new Redstone Insider Build in Windows 10 Mobile will soon enable users to send and receive text messages from their PC Messaging app.

The feature will be called Messaging Everywhere, and Microsoft will be revealing more about the new feature, which requires an updated messaging app, soon.

Microsoft has already shown some integration of the Action Centre of Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile at BUILD 2016, and it is likely that received text messages will also be accessible via Actionable Notifications in the Action Centre on the PC, which should make it extremely convenient to have conversations via text message with a full-sized keyboard and little interruption to your workflow.
